Blake Lawrence
Blake Lawrence is an interdisciplinary artist working across photography, drag, video, performance and ceremony. Blake is a PhD candidate in the School of Design at UTS.
Blake writes:
“I was inspired by Naomi’s reclamations of the tropes of young womanhood in her work as a science communicator. Working with attention to materiality, I wanted to transform things associated with pop cultural superficiality (“plastic-ness”, the colour pink) into something extraordinary and something approaching biological in texture and aesthetic. I wanted to put the lab coat in whimsical drag.”
